50L Loden Roe Sack with Leather Trim

The Mjoelner Alf Classic Loden 50L is the original Mjoelner design and the largest in the standard range. The 50-litre main compartment closes with a leather toggle and holds a zipped pocket for valuables. A zipped lid pocket and zipped front pocket take the kit you need to hand: knife, gloves, calls, licence. Soft carrier straps spread the load, and the pack is light before you load it.

The Alf works as a roe sack. The main compartment is big enough to carry a roe and has a fitted waterproof lining, so after a messy day you can hose it out or scrub it down and leave it to dry. The lining is not removable, so clean it in place.

Loden is boiled, felted wool. It absorbs sound rather than reflecting it, which makes this one of the quietest hunting backpacks made. It stays soft in frost when coated synthetics stiffen and crackle. It sheds rain with no membrane to wear out. The deep matt nap kills shine in low sun and the warm brown sits naturally against bark and bracken. Leather trim and wool both improve with use, so the pack looks better at ten years than at one.
